N26 Completes Management Board With Marc Hess as New CFO

N26 has named veteran German banker Marc Hess as Chief Financial Officer, completing its management board. Hess becomes CFO and managing director of both N26 SE and N26 Bank SE starting October 15, 2026, pending the usual regulatory approval.

Hess spent more than 11 years as CFO and later deputy CEO at Deutsche Postbank, and was also Global CFO for Deutsche Bank’s Private and Business Client division during that period. He most recently served as CFO of Aareal Bank from 2018 to 2024.

The timing matters: N26 is preparing a substantial expansion of its digital banking product starting in Q4 2026 and continuing into 2027, so the new finance chief arrives during an active product-development push. N26 supervisory board chairman Dr Andreas Dombret said Hess’s “deep understanding of retail banking, capital management and regulatory resilience” complements the existing leadership team.

What it means for users: a fully staffed management board and an incoming finance chief with deep German-bank regulatory experience signal N26 is positioning for its next growth phase rather than a defensive posture — worth noting alongside N26’s recently reported first full-year profit.
