Cookie
policy.

Which cookies and similar technologies Neobanks Guide uses, who sets them, and how to turn them off. We set no analytics or tracking cookies until you accept them in the consent banner.

01
The cookies

What we set, and what partners set.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files (and similar browser storage) that a site or its partners place on your device. We keep ours to a minimum and gate everything non-essential behind your consent.

2. Essential storage (no consent needed)

One item is strictly necessary for the consent mechanism itself to work:

Strictly necessary storage
Name Type Set by Lifetime Purpose
nbg_consent localStorage Neobanks Guide Until you clear it Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies, so the banner does not reappear.

This is first-party browser storage, not a transmitted cookie, and stores only the value accepted or rejected. Under EU law it requires no consent.

3. Analytics cookies (consent required)

If — and only if — you click Accept in the consent banner, we load Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation. It sets:

Analytics cookies — set only after you accept
Name Set by Lifetime Purpose
_ga Google Analytics 4 ~2 years Distinguishes one device from another (aggregate visitor counts).
_ga_<id> Google Analytics 4 ~2 years Persists session state for the specific GA4 property.

We also load the Impact tracking tag (impactStat / UTT) on accept, which records that a visit reached us so referrals can be attributed. If you reject, neither GA4 nor Impact loads at all.

4. Affiliate-network cookies (set by our partners)

When you click an affiliate link, the affiliate network — not us — may set a cookie so it can attribute any resulting sign-up to Neobanks Guide:

Third-party affiliate cookies
Network Cookie Lifetime Set by Details
Awin AWC ~30 days Awin (not us) Attributes a sign-up made after you click an Awin-routed link. See the Awin privacy policy.
Impact UTT / click ID ~30 days Impact (not us) Attributes a sign-up made after you click an Impact-routed link. See the Impact privacy policy.

These cookies are governed by the network's own privacy policy, not ours. We never see your subsequent relationship with the bank.

5. How to opt out

  • Decline in the banner. Click Reject when the consent banner appears, and no analytics or tracking cookies are ever set.
  • Clear your choice. Delete the nbg_consent item in your browser's storage settings and the banner reappears, letting you choose again.
  • Browser settings. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies. Blocking ours does not break any site functionality.

We rely on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) for all analytics and tracking cookies. They are set only after you accept; declining or ignoring the banner means none are placed. Strictly necessary storage relies on our legitimate interest in operating the site. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
